In Mid- May our preschool had a visit from Jim Loboy meteorologist from WYTV-33, he did a textbook weather talk with our preschool with a photo of our class appearing on T.V.
June activities for the preschool included a R.S.V.P. (retired senior volunteer) lunch. Joan Roth received her 15-year volunteer pin at the lunch. Our preschool is the only preschool enrolled in the R.S.V.P. program. I was recognized as recruiter of the year for our station, which now has 8 volunteers. I got some lovely gifts that my volunteers deserved way more than I did (I won a raffle prize too.) Our preschool would not be able to offer the quality preschool we do without our volunteers!!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that helped in any way at our preschool this year. My assistant Janine Landis and my R.S.V.P. volunteers-Dawn Ellis, Carol Flugan, Dolores Krause, Robbin Nelson, Joan Roth, Glen Roth, Nelda Hawkins, Pastor Dave. I want to thank my parents Wayne and Leila McCamon for doing a lot of the “running around” for the preschool getting supplies and my Dad and Dusty for recycling the pop cans. I also want to thank the congregation for donating to our preschool wish tree, soup lunch, (and thanks to Burdell Heck for making our soup) thank you to the Endowment Committee for their donation, thank you to those that helped at our programs serving refreshments and cleaning up and being overall supportive of J.L.C. Preschool. I also want to thank our preschool board members for taking time out of their busy schedule to serve- Pastor Dave, Ed Holisky, Evelyn Farley, Pastor Rob Joy, and chairman Joan Rupert.
This summer we plan to paint the back room of the preschool to "freshen up" the room: it will now be mint green, the preschool will be paying for the supplies and Janine and I will be doing the painting.
Plan ahead to attend the 30th year celebration on Sept. 19th at noon. This fall it will be 30 years since our preschool was started at Jerusalem Lutheran Church. We will be planning an event inviting all former and present students and their families, all past staff and board members and of course the congregation. We will be serving lunch at the celebration after the 10:45 service that day.

Preschool
Southside Preschool, established in 1980, is known as JLC Preschool. This stands for Jerusalem Lutheran Church Preschool. The school is located at 415 S Main Street, in Columbiana OH, in the Jerusalem Lutheran Church. The church has always owned JLC Preschool but it is now going to take a more active role in this outreach ministry. The preschool will have the same staff, Laurie Wilms, (Miss Laurie), administrator/teacher and Janine Landis, teacher assistant.
